Trust & safety
HomeBase is a small community project for sharing free youth gear with neighbors. Here's how we handle your information and how to get in touch.
Who runs HomeBase
HomeBase is independently run by a local parent in our community. There is no company behind it — just neighbors helping neighbors pass along outgrown gear.
What information we collect
- Your email and display name (to sign in and message others)
- Your ZIP code and approximate city/state (to show gear near you)
- Photos and descriptions you post for items you're giving away
- Messages you send to other members
Who can see what
- Public: item listings, photos, and the city/state of the poster. Anyone on the internet can see these so people can find gear.
- Signed-in members only: display names and approximate locations of other members.
- Private: your email, exact ZIP, and direct messages — only you and the person you're messaging can read them.
Keeping the community safe
- Meet in public places for handoffs when possible.
- Don't share your home address until you're comfortable with the other person.
- Report anything that feels off using the contact form below.
